Frequently asked questions about igus® tribo-coating
Unfortunately the standard materials are not but please ask us as we may have a development material that is suitable upon request.
The different iglidur® coatings differ mainly in their temperature resistance, their sliding or wear properties and their colour. If you require the material data, this can be found in our material data sheets.
We subjected our iglidur® coating materials to more than 10,000 different application-oriented tests to analyse the wear behaviour in the most diverse application scenarios. This enables us to select the optimum and most cost-effective material for your application.
Our overhead conveyors allow component sizes up to 3 x 1 x 1 metre.
Yes absolutely! We carefully mask off the areas that will not be coated according to your requirements. For larger quantities, we manufacture appropriate devices that reduce process costs to a minimum.
The iglidur® coating layer can be applied with a thickness of approx. 60-120 µm. Different coating thicknesses are possible depending on the material and surface quality of the parts to be coated.
The surface must be cleaned and be free of dust, dirt or liquids. We can carry out the necessary processing steps for you should you require it
The ‘cross cut’ according to DIN EN ISO 2409 shall enable an estimation of the adhesive strength of coatings, i.e the painted surface. The test method is thereby not used to measure the adhesive strength. For this purpose, the trigger test according to DIN EN ISO 4624 shall be applied.
The rating is based on indicators from 0 to 5, with 0 representing the best rating “very good”. All tribo coating materials (IC01, IC03, IC06) fulfil the criterion 0.
Yes these are the same. Germany call it iglidur® coating and the UK tend to lean more towards tribo coating. Essentially same things, different terminology!
Currently this is not an option however please contact us with any specific requests and we will see how we can help.
Most metals can be coated even Lead, but that must be confirmed before coating so please give us a call and we will help you with your requirement.
Yes we can, as long as we can get a good earth on the metal.
