Diana Gruia’s progression story

Where did my career begin?

Before joining igus, I worked in both the automotive manufacturing and hospitality industries. I began my career in 2016 as a hotel receptionist, a role I enjoyed for six months before moving into automotive manufacturing, where I worked until 2018.

I arrived in England from Romania on July 3rd, and by the very next day I was out looking for job opportunities. A day later, I interviewed at igus and was delighted to be offered the job at igus UK as part of the stock control team, the beginning of my progression story.

The start of my igus® journey

From the moment I stepped into this role, everyone around me was incredibly welcoming. I received great product training and plenty of support, which really helped me build confidence. I learned so much about the products we offer and slowly began understanding more of the system side as well. I was even named Employee of the Month that same year, which really made everything feel like it was falling into place.

I worked in the stock control team for a year and two months before an opportunity opened up in the AX department. I applied and was delighted to take on the role in September 2019. From there, I began expanding my knowledge of the system side, taking on tasks such as creating new parts, working with G23, KHS (Sterling), supplying UK modules, investigating system related issues, and more. The more I learned about AX 2012, the more interested I became, always excited to learn more and tackle new responsibilities.

What year did your progression lead to your leadership role?

In February 2024, I was excited to step into the role of AX Team Leader. It was a big challenge, but it was also a great opportunity to grow and learn more.

I was also given the opportunity to participate in a one year management training program, where I learned so much and was able to start putting new ideas into practice.

Over time, I feel I’ve built a strong and supportive team, where everyone is able to cover for one another when needed. I’ve focused on providing ongoing training within the team and worked to make improvements wherever possible. It has been amazing to see the team develop, tackle challenges together, and celebrate successes along the way.

What do you like about igus?

One of the things I love most about working at igus is that there’s always room to grow and take on new challenges. I feel so grateful for all the opportunities I’ve had since I started, and all the support provided.

It’s hard to believe that 7 years have flown by so quickly! Over this time, I’ve learned so much, met so many wonderful people, and had experiences that I’ll always treasure. I’m super thankful to igus for believing in me, supporting me, and giving me the chance to grow both professionally and personally.
