Stuart Clarke’s Progression Story
Where did my career begin?
In 2001 I left college and didn’t really know what I wanted to do. An opportunity was presented to me to work for igus® and after an interview I landed a job working in the factory preparing orders and managing stock for the dry-tech department. The role gave me a great basis to understand the igus® product range and work with igus® systems.
The start of the Stuart Clarke igus® journey
After a couple of years in the factory role, I began looking for a new opportunity to further my career and with the knowledge I had gained I moved into an administrative role. Within this role my responsibilities were to ensure all orders were raised in a timely manner working closely with the procurement team, raising and issuing the customer’s order acknowledgements and invoices. During this time, I worked on several projects to streamline processes to improve the customer experience on receiving order confirmations and invoices. This gave me satisfaction being able to save the company time and money, whilst creating process improvements for the business.
What happened in 2008?
In 2008 there was an emphasis from our customers for igus® to gain certification to ISO 9001 and I was challenged to implement our working procedures in line with the international standard. I relished the challenge and in 2008 we gained our certification and my role developed and I became the Quality Manger. After gaining the ISO 9001, I later became responsible for implementing ISO 14001, which we gained in 2010.
This had a natural progression to then ensure our facility ran in line with all applicable legislation with the servicing and maintenance of the building equipment. To add to the various hats that I was already wearing, I then accepted an additional role as the account manager for RS Components; this role has taught me a lot over the years and has meant I have had to hone the skills I had learnt in customer service to ensure the partnership between igus® and RS is successful by project managing product launches, product development, strategic planning and marketing.

Every day has its new challenge and if I could sum up my journey at igus® in one word it would be progressive.
