Taiwan: A paradise for cyclists
Taiwan is incredibly diverse in terms of nature and its stunning landscapes, from the huge mountains that divide the island to its incredible architecture. You can find many hiking and bicycle trails that are turning Taiwan into a paradise for cyclists, and it is often called ‘the cycling capital of Asia’ as a result of its excellent cycling infrastructure.
Some of the trails are very steep and occasionally dangerous in the more mountainous areas of the country, not a challenge to take on if you are a beginner!

Did you know?
Taiwan is one of the only countries in the world with dedicated bike lanes throughout, even in remote areas!
Whether you are looking to travel the area as an avid cyclist or live there already, a reliable bike is essential to travel through this beautiful location. The igus:bike world tour has begun in Taiwan with a route full of natural beauty as well as stunning architecture, visiting some of the country’s most popular destinations and igus® Taiwan’s faithful customers.

A long history of cycling success
Not only have we produced our own sustainable bicycle, but you can find igus® almost everywhere in a standard bike, from the brake to the pedals to the hub. Big bike manufacturers such as GIANT, SRAM and APRO TECH have been associated with igus® for many years, working together to create light weight and dynamic bikes using igus® self-lubricating plain bearings. Read more about our role in bicycles and sustainability here.
APRO Tech, a Taiwanese based manufacturer, have been using iglidur® for many years in their suspension forks, benefitting from smooth running and longevity with igus® bearings.
You can find iglidur® in suspensions in all kinds of bikes. For example, mountain-biker Sabine Spitz (Olympic gold medallist), relied on igus® bearings in her suspension forks. Our plain bearings are used to face repeated shocks and very high edge loads.
The igus:bike world tour
With sustainability at the forefront of many discussions, the igus:bike provides an eco-friendly and maintainable cycling option for many. Made almost entirely of recycled plastic waste that had been recovered from the ocean, the igus:bike is corrosion and lubrication-free, meaning it requires little to no maintenance (A big win for us here in the UK where there’s often more rain than shine).
As it arrives in Taiwan to much warmer weather, it has an incredible journey ahead! Take a look at where it’s been so far in the video above and follow along for the rest of the tour to learn more about the amazing cultures that make up the igus® team.
