The dryve technology tour!

Taking the step to automate and optimise your processes can be challenging, and to make sure you make the right decision, igus provide hands-on demonstration and personalised advice to streamline the process.

After recently completing the UK leg of the igus bike tour, we were back on the road again last week, bringing the dryve tour to customers across the country. The tour kicked off at our German headquarters, giving us the opportunity to discuss our range of drive technologies and dry running components with customers across the globe.

Benefits of drylin® drive technology?

  • Lubrication & maintenance-free: uses plain bearings made from high-performance polymers so the linear units do not require external lubricants or maintenance.
  • Quiet operation: the technology is based on the plain bearing principle instead of recirculating ball bearing systems, resulting in significantly lower noise and vibrations, making the application up to 4 times quieter.
  • Cost-effective: It not only stands out from metal solutions thanks to its technical advantages, but is also up to 30 % cheaper, with a further cost-optimised econ series available.
  • Temperature- resistant: we have the right linear units for you in our product portfolio for extreme temperatures from -30°C to +180°C.
  • Customisable & ready to connect: can be ordered with the desired stroke length and with a manual or electric drive, delivered ready for connection, which guarantees you significant time savings.

In the UK alone, we travelled over 1200 miles to meet customers from a variety of industries and discuss different solutions that could work for them. L&D specialist Harry Worts and Automation Product Manager Angelos Bitivelias took on this task, setting up the van each day for customers to see tangible solutions to their questions.

Application examples

Automated cocktail mixer!

Automation isn’t just transforming factories, it’s shaking up the bar scene too. A great example is the use of drylin® linear technology in robotic cocktail mixers. These automated systems are designed to mix cocktails with consistent quality, and our components play a key role in making that possible.

The drylin® linear guides used in these mixers are self-lubricating, ideal for food and beverage environments. Their smooth, quiet operation ensures that the robotic arms can move swiftly and accurately, whether they’re pouring, stirring, or shaking. Plus, the compact design allows for sleek integration into modern vending-style cocktail machines.

By using linear technology, developers can create cocktail robots that meet strict hygiene standards. A smart blend of engineering and entertainment!

Smart field drainage

Efficient water management is essential in agriculture, especially when it comes to field drainage systems. Our lead screw and motor technology is being used here to automate drainage control, helping farmers protect crops and optimize soil conditions with minimal manual effort.

The system features a drylin® linear module driven by a motor and lead screw, which precisely adjusts the height of drainage pipes. This allows water levels in the field to be regulated depending on weather conditions and crop requirements. The components are particularly well-suited for outdoor use as they’re corrosion-resistant, maintenance-free, and operate smoothly without lubrication, even in muddy or wet environments.

This solution offers a reliable and cost-effective way to modernise field drainage.

The dryve tour opens up discussions with customers that may only have ever bought from our cable and chain division, it’s a great opportunity to show a whole other side to the business.
